Location Description

Michael Foods, Inc. located in Lenox, Iowa and often called the "Pearl of the Prairie" is where you can find small town living, focused on family and friends, with big city amenities not far from reach in Des Moines, Omaha, and Kansas City. Located in southwest Iowa, Taylor county, with a population of around 1400, the Lenox area reaches far beyond the city limits with beautiful and productive fields of corn, beans, and other croplands. The MFI location in Lenox produces primarily pre-cooked egg patties. Responsibilities

Position Summary:

The purpose of this position is to assist the Continuous Improvement Engineer with lean and continuous improvement initiatives.

DUTIES AND RESPONIBLITIES:

* Responsible for identifying continuous improvement initiatives through critical thinking. * Responsible for leading cross functional continuous improvement teams in the plant. * Responsible for leading speed trials in the precook areas, collecting necessary data and assisting plant continuous improvement engineers (CIEs) to develop speed profiles. * Responsible for developing training documents to train production leads and operators on manufacturing specifications and standard operating procedures (SOPs) with the goal of standardizing the daily tasks and reducing variation between work areas and across different shifts. * Develop and update process parameter standards to support a centerline methodology. * Work closely with plant CIE to drive and deliver positive results on operations efficiency and the plant financials. * May assist the production team when needed during special projects or general production. * Responsible for data collection as required to be able to drive focused priorities. * Assist in maintaining shift reports with plant CIEs and report out any errors on shift reports further improvement. * This position requires the candidate to work both on the floor and in the office in order to complete specific projects. * Manage various components of the Redzone platform. * Coach and conduct various Redzone meetings to evolve the Management Operation System. * Have some basic computer skills such as Excel, SAP, and BW. * Ability to lead cross functional teams and drive results. * Ability to document process flows and collect appropriate data from the floor. Have some basic skillsets for data processing and analysis. * Ability to coordinate personnel from various departments including maintenance, quality, production and finance. * Expected to adhere to safe work practices regarding food safety and human safety. * Maintain a positive work atmosphere by acting and communicating in a manner that displays professionalism. * Performs other duties as assigned. * Must be able to work independently, with little supervision.

Qualifications

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

* High school diploma or general education degree (GED) or equivalent.

PREFERED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

* Redzone * Excel * Demonstrated confidence including providing a consistent leadership style with an acceptable level of professional assertiveness. * Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals * Ability to speak effectively before groups, customers/vendors or employees of the organization. * Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. * Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. * Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs. * Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. * Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations. * Ability to work well with others and be a team player.
