Utilizing Kaizen and Lean Six Sigma methodologies, develops and leads complex and abstract continuous improvement programs including but not limited to BI production Systems, CI/Tier/Performance Center Boards, Lean Manufacturing  and Quality Culture Initiatives.  Effectively partners with stakeholders at all levels of the organization to build a continuous improvement culture through communication, collaboration, leadership, coaching and training. Demonstrated positive business outcomes including technical, process and/or financial improvements impacting critical site KPIs. Acts as CI Champion by engaging and communicating BPE strategies, initiatives and accomplishments to stakeholders throughout the organization.

Duties & Responsibilities\:


  • Effectively utilize data and statistical methods to understand production variances, identify root causes and implement process optimization opportunities.

  • Identifies, prioritizes and leads CI projects to ensure alignment with site critical KPIs and the overall BPE strategic plan.

  • Evaluates and delivers CI project results and BPE metrics to relevant stakeholders including the BPE team as needed.

  • Utilizing Kaizen and Lean Six Sigma metholodogies responsible for leading a minimum of six (6) cross-functional CI projects annually in support of business improvement outcomes in areas such as lost sales, deviations (related to process, product and compliance), equipment optimization (related to performance, availability, capacity and yield),  production schedules, etc.

  • Effectively utilizes data and statistical methods to understand production variances, identify root causes and implement process optimization opportunities.

  • Engage, coach, and mentor site leaders, process owners, shop floor employees and relevant stakeholders in support of the US 

    Animal Health business. 

  • This includes the establishing and sustaining of Continuous Improvement (CI)/Tier Boards in production and functional support areas along with relevant key performance indicators for each department; recognize and implement improvement actions as needed to ensure CI/Teir board effectiveness in support of business as usual production activities. 

  • Create and maintain process for tracking and analyzing floor level improvement actions throughout operations.

  • Support BPE leadership through reinforcement of Quality Culture behaviors and establishment of continuous improvement (CI) practices; develop and deliver Key Lean Tools and Methodologies (i.e. 5S, Standardized Work -cycle, Standardize Work-non cycle, VSM, TPM, Kaizen, Error Proof, Process Problem Solving, SMED, Inventory Reduction) to all levels of the organization include production floor employees.

  • Be an advocate of Continuous improvement and Quality Culture best practices throughout the US Animal Health organization by networking and collaborating with Regional BPE leaders and experts to share best practices.

  • Act as role model and subject matter expert within the BPE team for continuous improvement concepts, methodology, and skills.

  • Deliver CI philosophy and BPE vision via team workshops, team building activities and/or team board/staff meetings.

  • Develop and deliver relevant data analytics, reports, presentations, videos, and training material to ensure engagement and support for Continuous Improvement and Quality Culture at all levels of the organization.

  • Develop and lead best practices sessions in Lean and Six Sigma tools and methodologies, including but not limited to GB training wave, in support of continuous improvement and quality culture learning at the site.

  • Collaborate with Operations Excellence, Tech Transfer, Data Analytics and other local and regional Operations Functions to establish a strong network, open communication, knowledge and best practices sharing to CI and BPE goals.

  • Act as role model for less senior BPE specialists to ensure consistency in the areas of BPE best practices, lean Six Sigma tools and methodologies, 

    technical and business process improvement initiatives and all other polices, processes and regulations related to vaccine manufacturing at the site.   





  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution in Biology, Life Sciences, Engineering or related field and/or Lean Six Sigma Black Belt or Master Black Belt Certification and a minimum of eight (8) years’ experience in lean manufacturing and/or continuous improvement in a GMP regulated environment or similar organization.

  • In lieu of degree and/or six sigma certification, a minimum of 15 years progressive continuous improvement and/or lean manufacturing experience with a solid track record of business results through the application of proven lean and/or continuous improvement tools and methodologies within a GMP regulated environment or similar organization. 

  • Experience must be inclusive of five (5) years leading multiple direct reports and/or complex continuous improvement projects. 

  • Must have experience with problem solving, and change-management methodologies consistent with establishing a culture of continuous improvement.

  • Should be able to demonstrate project / program ROI results from previous experience. 

  • Exemplary interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills; able to communicate effectively and interact with personnel at all levels of the organization. 

  • Must be a results-oriented Change-Agent; a skilled facilitator adept to influence, negotiation, and conflict resolution with a demonstrated ability to lead by influence and drive results without direct authority. 

    Ability to work under tight deadlines and handle multiple and detail-oriented tasks. 

  • Experience with data collection and reporting. 

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Tools\: Excel, Access, Word, PowerPoint, Visio and statistical analysis software. (e.g. Minitab, JMP, etc.).

  • Must be willing to submit to a background investigation, including verification of your past employment, criminal history, and educational background

  • Physical Demands / Surroundings\:


  • Writing and use of a computer keyboard frequently.

  • Occasional use of personal protective equipment.

  • Works in an office setting and technical environment under desirable conditions with few or no disagreeable features.   

  • The individual may be required to enter production support areas as well as sterile filling rooms. 

  • Travel will be required.

  • Visual Demands

  • Must be able to read and see clearly. 

  • Vision clarity with or without correction to read handwritten as well as computer generated documents.

  • Temperaments/Mental Requirements

  • Position requires the ability to handle 

    projects simultaneously. 

  • May require occasional fast-paced periods to meet deadlines or handle emergencies. 

  • Also requires close concentration, the ability to quickly analyze data and good decision making capabilities. 

  • Ability to work independently, in a team atmosphere and with employees at all levels.

  • May require off-shift work hours as job demands.
