Under general directive Supervision, perform assigned operating, regulating and adjusting duties, as well as maintenance, electrical, and instrument and controls work on Simple Cycle electric generating units, auxiliaries and miscellaneous station equipment, to perform assigned switching operations on station or substation equipment, to oversee and direct the activities of other employees and contractors, to train and instruct assigned employees, and to perform other related work.

1. Check with the technician being relieved for special orders and for station and area operating conditions, review logs and make a visual inspection of duty area equipment, (Detailed Shift Turnover).

2. Must be willing to participate in and successfully complete required training. This shall consist of but not be limited to Incipient Fire Brigade, Incident Command, Confined Space Rescue, AED/Dfibulator/CPR.

3. Perform the necessary maintenance duties related to mechanical, electrical, and instrument and controls work on Simple Cycle electric generating units, auxiliaries and miscellaneous station equipment. Perform buildings and grounds work, when necessary. Oversee and direct the activities of other employees.

4. Training others as directed.

5. Inspect, repair, maintain and align of all types of mechanical equipment including such work as repairing and aligning bearings of rotating equipment, the complete dismantling, repair, alignment and reassembling of prime movers, and high pressure pumps, and all associated equipment, including the associated rigging, piping, blacksmithing, bench and shop work.

6. Troubleshoot, rebuild and perform maintenance, service and installation work on all circuit breakers, motor starters and compensators by adjusting, lubricating, repairing and renewing parts thereof and by removing and installing interchangeable assemblies.

7. Inspect, troubleshoot, test, adjust, repair and calibrate relays, instruments and analyzers, control systems, and programmable logic controllers used in the station which involve special electronics ability. Using system tools, troubleshoot distributive control systems and determine repairs needed. Monitor, adjust, calibrate unit Cems monitoring systems, respond to alarms and correct as necessary.

8. Check and monitor the central control room continually during shift for proper and economical operation of equipment in accordance with prescribed standards, react to abnormal conditions and take the appropriate corrective measures within their control for priority maintenance required on equipment. Perform in connection with assigned tasks, the necessary operating, regulating, adjusting, preventative and corrective maintenance to maintain proper output of combustion turbines, proper control of water flows, pressures, temperatures, and fuel consumption, including the operation or check of operation of pumps, fans, ignition systems, and other related auxiliary and accessory equipment to insure maximum efficiency and correct output of the units.

9. Perform in connection with assigned tasks the necessary operating, regulating and adjusting to maintain desired output of electric generators, transformers, busses, transmission lines, oil and air circuit breakers and associated equipment, including such operations as synchronizing, both auto and manual, switching and the replacing of fuses.

10. Operate balance of plant equipment. Handle Hazardous Waste. Properly and safely of load Acid and Caustic for station use.

11. Engage in, as required, the mechanical and electrical switching operations necessary to remove station or substation mechanical and electrical equipment from service and return it to service, including the preparing, giving or receiving clearance, placing or removing of hold cards in accordance with established procedures. Direct or lead other departments when performing work on site. Engage in proper use of Lockout-Tagout for isolation of Non Generation Equipment. (E.G. shop grinder).

12. Observe instrument indications and maintain chronological logs containing pertinent operating information and prepare specified related reports and records.

13. Assist in or perform as directed, the handling of emergency or abnormal operations necessary for maintaining in service or returning to service, combustion turbines, transformers and related auxiliary or accessory equipment.

14. Maintain work equipment and area in a clean, orderly condition, continuously observe Company safety rules and practices, check condition of safety equipment.

15. Operate and maintain the site in a safe and environmentally conscience manner comply with all EHS procedures.

16. Must be able to and use software programs to receive, understand, and complete assigned work. Must use said programs to communicate work completion, planning and scheduling, isolation of equipment, requisition of stock materials and parts.

17. This position is in a power plant/industrial environment, operating 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, which includes exposure to heat, cold, noise, dust and humidity. This job requires to climbing ladders and stairs, lifting heavy loads up to 100 pounds, entering vessels or equipment with limited access; walking, stooping, lifting, bending, squatting, pulling, pushing, working in hard to reach and high places, standing for long periods of time, being exposed to all types of weather conditions, and working around machinery and pinch points.

18. Direct and train others as assigned; oversee and direct the activities of others as directed and perform other similar or less skilled work.


Must meet the Company's requirements as to GENERAL QUALIFICATIONS; must be willing to complete the Company's required training program for Operations and, in addition, must have the following specific qualifications:

1. Graduation from high school or applicable equivalent in either job training or study, and in addition, the completion of a two year degree of technical education, or applicable equivalent, combustion turbine, electric engineering, and central station operation.

2. Must have demonstrated ability in the performance of the duties of operations, maintenance electrical and instrument and controls work.

3. Must have a cooperative temperament and be able to receive and pass on orders and instructions in a manner that will obtain cooperation from others.

4. Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license and be willing to travel.
