Cynet Health to find a qualified Oncology RN in Kansas City,
Missouri, 64111! Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing
Specialty: Oncology Duration: 13 Weeks Shift: Night Hours per
Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum 2 Years Oncology Experience Required
License: Valid nursing license required Certifications: BLS
required Must-Have: Previous Charge Experience preferred Teaching
Hospital Experience preferred Description: Provide nursing care in
a primary oncology unit treating all types of cancer in all phases
of care from work-up to completion of therapy. Administer inpatient
chemotherapy regimens. Provide post-operative care for surgical
populations. Support step-down neuro overflow unit for strokes,
head bleeds, and other neurological needs. Maintain patient care
ratios of 1:5. Float within scope to meet facility needs as regular
floating may be required between departments, units, and facilities
as needed. Manage IV therapy and infusions, including
administration of coagulation factors, antifungals, antivirals, and
blood/blood products. Perform care and management of ports and
central line blood draws. Monitor medications, including
antibiotics, antiemetics, and corticosteroids. Recognize and manage
oncologic emergencies such as sepsis and acute tumor lysis
syndrome. Provide psychosocial care, including patient and family
education and support. Effectively manage symptoms such as
alteration in skin and mucous membranes, altered mental status,
nausea/vomiting, and neuropathy. Demonstrate professional knowledge
and skills in telemetry monitoring, wound care, and post-surgical
care. Utilize pain management techniques, including IV push
narcotic agents and PCA pump management. Adhere to safety
precautions, including isolation and neutropenic protocols. Assist
in care coordination and management of complex patient needs.
Recognize and communicate abnormal lab values. Manage college
catheter insertion, chest tube care, and colostomy care as
required. Provide care for patients with various types of cancer,
ensuring comprehensive treatment and support throughout their care
journey. Participate in interdisciplinary support, collaborating
with IV teams, physical therapy, respiratory services, and social
