as a Diagnostic Radiologist The following duties are required of
the position; they include, but are not limited to: The radiologist
should be experienced in the interpretation of diagnostic
radiologic studies to include modalities of computed tomography,
general radiography, fluoroscopy, magnetic resonance imaging,
nuclear medicine, DEXA, and ultrasonography. Experience and ability
to perform procedures such as imaging guided biopsies and
drainages, pain procedures, paracentesis, thoracentesis, lumbar
puncture, and arthrography is desirable although not required.
Eligible for academic appointment to provide training, mentoring,
and supervision to UMKC School of Medicine radiology residents The
radiologist will be responsible for performing formal study
interpretation, radiologic procedures, conferences/tumor board
representation, and professional consultation Participation in
staff meetings and service or facility level committees/boards,
when assigned. Maintain VA training and credentialing requirements,
participation in the FPPE/OPPE process, participation in peer
review, uphold integrity of Protected Health Information.
Facilitates clinic staff productivity and maintains acceptable
personal clinical productivity as determined by national
productivity goals and the Service Chief. Shared responsibility of
review and establishment of imaging protocols; review and protocol
of imaging requests; ensuring appropriate preps and medication are
ordered; technical oversight and feedback for the technologist
performing the examinations; overall safety of imaging patients
including oversight of contrast administration and response to
adverse patient reactions. Utilization of interpersonal and
communication skills to establish and maintain professional
relationships with patients, families, and other members of the

VA employees are covered by the Federal Employees Retirement System
(FERS). FERS is a three-tiered retirement plan composed of 1)
Social Security benefits, 2) FERS-RAE basic benefits (pension), and
3) Thrift Savings Plan (TSP) which is a 401K-type plan How is the
pension funded? VA employees automatically contribute 4.4% of their
salary each pay period and the VA contributes 12.2% of the
employee’s salary each pay period for a total annual contribution
percentage equal to 16.6% of the employee’s salary Similar to the
401(k) savings plans widely available in the private sector, the
TSP allows employees to tax defer a portion of their income each
year, subject to the requirements of the Internal Revenue Service.
For calendar year 2025, employees under the age of 50 may
contribute up to $23,500, while those over age 50 are eligible to
make catch-up contributions that allow them to defer up to $31,000.
The Federal Government also provides an automatic basic
contribution (1% of salary) and up to 4% of salary in matching
contributions, depending on the amount of the employee contribution
