Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Progressive Care Unit Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 hours (18:45 - 07:15) Experience: 2 years of experience required in a high acuity setting License: Active Registered Nurse license required Certifications: BLS, ACLS required Must-Have: - Level 1 trauma experience - Experience in post-operative care of orthopedic trauma patients - Ability to provide blood products and manage patient mobility Description: Provide nursing care to high acuity orthopedic patients in a progressive care unit. Manage a patient ratio of 1:5, with potential for flexing to 1:6 on rare occasions. Deliver care for a variety of post-operative orthopedic procedures including total joints, fractures, laminectomies, hand surgeries, bladder suspensions, and some gynecological and eye surgeries. Exhibit proficiency in administering blood products and facilitating patient mobility. Demonstrate knowledge of isolation precautions and wound care management. Work collaboratively within an interdisciplinary team, which includes physical therapy, respiratory services, and social services. Participate in weekend shifts as per scheduling requirements. Regularly float between different departments and units as needed. Provide patient education and support throughout the recovery process. Engage with high patient turnover and anticipate large volumes of admissions daily.
