The Charge Nurse plays a critical role in ensuring high-quality care, supervising nursing staff, and maintaining efficient unit operations. This position requires strong leadership skills, clinical expertise, and a commitment to patient-centered care.Key Responsibilities
  • Supervise and coordinate daily activities of the Med/Surg nursing staff to ensure efficient and effective patient care.
  • Provide direct patient care and support as needed, including assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of care.
  • Serve as a clinical resource for staff, providing guidance and support in complex patient care situations.
  • Manage patient assignments, ensuring balanced workloads and appropriate staff coverage.
  • Oversee admissions, discharges, and transfers, ensuring smooth transitions and comprehensive patient education.
  • Ensure compliance with hospital policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
  • Monitor and maintain unit supplies and equipment, coordinating with supply management as needed.
  • Lead unit huddles and shift handoff meetings to ensure clear communication and continuity of care.
  • Mentor and support the professional development of nursing staff through education, coaching, and feedback.QualificationsEDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, TRAINING
    • Current and valid state RN License
    • Current BCLS (AHA) upon hire and maintained current.
    • Current ACLS (AHA) within 30 days of hire and maintained current.
    • Bachelor Degree in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
