Job Description:
Job Description Job Description Summary: The main function of an
Industrial Engineer is to design, develop, test and evaluate
integrated systems for managing industrial production processes
including human work factors, quality control, inventory control,
logistics and material flow, cost analysis and production
coordination. A typical Industrial Engineer is tasked with
increasing productivity through the management of people, methods
of business organization and technology. Job Responsibilities: Line
balance and throughput activities to increase productivity. Review
statistical data and product specifications to determine standards
and set quality and reliability objectives of finished product.
Review and approve manufacturing methods, labor utilization
standards, and cost analysis systems to promote efficient staff and
facility utilization. Recommend methods for improving utilization
of personnel, material, and utilities to management. Communicate
with management and user personnel to develop production and design
standards. Create and implement quality control objectives and
activities to resolve production problems, maximize product
reliability, and minimize cost. Review and submit production cost
and effect of product design changes for management review, action,
and control. Review operations sequence, material flow, functional
statements, organization charts, and project information to assign
worker functions and responsibilities. Confer with vendors, staff,
and management personnel regarding purchases, procedures, product
specifications, manufacturing capabilities, and project status.
Review production schedules, engineering specifications, orders,
and related information to obtain knowledge of manufacturing
methods, procedures, and activities. Skills: Creativity, verbal and
written communication skills, analytical and problem solving
ability. Team player and detail oriented. Strong leadership and
mentoring skills necessary to provide support and constructive
performance feedback. Strong ability to make sketches, engineering
drawings and common computations. Strong knowledge of design
techniques, tools, and principles involved in production of
precision technical plans, blueprints, drawings, and models. Strong
knowledge of business and management principles involved in
strategic planning, resource allocation, human resources modeling,
leadership technique, production methods, and coordination of
people and resources. Previous experience with computer
applications and software related to engineering field, such as MS
Visual Basic, MS Project, and ABAQUS. Education: Bachelor's Degree
in Engineering is a must have and would like to see candidates who
have an industrial engineering degree (these candidates will be top
priority and considered first before those without a degree) Years
of experience: Open to new hires who are fresh out of college and
have a Bachelor's Degree or have had an internship (open to 0-2
years of experience) Soft skills: Ability to work well with others,
good people skills, very personable they work with a lot of
different departments (not a desk job where they are working
independently), outgoing who can engage others Manager's Top
Priorities: Layout design software experience - for example AutoCAD
or SolidWorks Internship in manufacturing/manufacturing experience
Experience working with unions (people coming from Ford have been
very successful in this position)
