Job Description:
Description Job Summary: The Secondary Assistant Principal will
assist the Principal and collaborate with a fellow Assistant
Principal in providing instructional leadership and professional
development. They will help lead staff in the implementation of
high-quality instruction, ensure a safe, pleasant, and effective
educational environment, provide discipline as necessary, and
enforce school policies. The Assistant Principal will also support
the Principal in coaching, mentoring, and supporting secondary
school employees. Duties/Responsibilities: Spiritual : Is actively
growing in their faith and engaged in a Christian Church. Seek to
model in attitude, speech, and actions in a consistent daily walk
with Jesus Christ. Agrees with SCA Statement of Faith, Community
Compact expectations. Follow the Matthew 18 principle in dealing
with students, parents, staff, and administration. Professional:
Create and encourage a building vision. Implements policy and
procedure changes. Resolves staff problems and provides support to
teachers. Coach and support staff. Facilitate professional
development for staff. Ensure quality instruction is taking place
in classrooms. Evaluate the performance and effectiveness of
programs and staff. Maintains the discipline and morale of students
by carrying out the mission and vision of SCA. Interacts with
students constructively to encourage each individual to perform at
their highest level. Provide general supervision to students.
Supervise extra-curricular activities. Maintains relations and
communication with parents, parent groups, and school volunteers.
Continual monitoring of student achievement. Instructional and
curricular leadership through the development of appropriate
programs and expectations. Other duties as assigned by the
Principal. Personal: Demonstrate the character qualities of the
Fruit of the Spirit joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness,
faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control (Galatians 5:22-23).
Meet everyday stress with emotional stability, objectivity, and
optimism. Punctual and engaged in assignments and meetings,
attending the time required. Develop and maintain rapport with
students, parents, and staff by treating others with friendliness,
dignity, and consideration. Respectfully submit and be loyal to
constituted authority. Maintains appropriate verbal communication.
Recognize the need for good public relations. Represent the school
in a favorable and professional manner to all. Maintain
parent/student/staff confidentiality, involving only appropriate
school personnel in the discussion of concerns or potential
resolutions. Places school ministry ahead of outside/volunteer
work. Education/Skills/Abilities: A bachelor’s degree in education
is required. Preference is given to those with a Master’s degree in
Curriculum and Instruction or Administration Demonstrated
experience in school administration or instructional leadership
preferred. Possesses strong organizational skills with the ability
to prioritize a multitude of tasks. Strong attention to detail.
Ability to communicate clearly and concisely both in oral and
written form. Candidates must have demonstrated leadership
experience in a school setting and be passionate about students’
spiritual development and growth. Excellent interpersonal,
problem-solving, decision-making, and communication skills.
Physical Requirements: Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull up to
30 pounds. Sitting for extended periods of time. Walking and
standing for prolonged periods. Ability to kneel, crouch, bend, and
reach to retrieve and handle materials, supplies and equipment.
Ability to speak clearly and distinctly when communicating.
