SummaryThe Trust IRA Specialist has responsibility for oversight and administration of retirement accounts actively administered by Stifel Trust Company, National Association ("Stifel Trust"), as well as those held under the legal custody of Stifel Trust but serviced by Stifel Nicolaus & Company, Inc. ("Stifel Nicolaus").Essential Duties & ResponsibilitiesGenerate, review and interpret oversight reports to verify proper administration and custody of Individual Retirement Accounts (IRAs)Identify current and emerging risks associated with the acceptance, setup, administration and custody of IRAs and proactively developing approaches to mitigate these risksPartner with Stifel Trust and Stifel Nicolaus leaders and associates to develop and analyze additional or alternative controls, reports, or tools to aid risk mitigation in the administration and custody of IRAsPartner with Stifel Trust and Stifel Nicolaus leaders and associates to establish vendor service level standards and performing independent testing to verify compliance with these standard.Analyze, understand and communicate the potential impact of existing, proposed, or new statutes, regulations or guidance issued by the IRS, OCC, and other state and federal agencies Create, implement and maintain IRA administration and custody policies and procedures Communicate actively with compliance professionals, auditors, vendors, and regulators Serve as a key subject matter expert in discussions with regulators, by articulating the risks associated with IRA custody and measures employed to mitigate those risks; Provide a crediblechallenge to management on proper administration and custody of IRAs Present information and solutions to senior leadership and governance committees of Stifel Trust and Stifel Nicolaus, as necessary.Education & ExperienceMinimum Required: Bachelor's degree requiredMinimum Required: 5 years' of experience in the financial services industry related to the administration and oversight of retirement accounts, internal or external audit, risk management, or accounting.The following certifications preferred:Certified IRA Services Professional (CISP)Certified IRA Professional (CIP)Certified IRA Specialist (CIS)QualificationsStrong understanding of retirement accountsSolid understanding of the regulatory environment (including Internal Revenue Service and Office of the Comptroller of the Currency regulations and guidance) and the ability to apply knowledge to reach appropriate conclusions in best interest of clients, Stifel Trust and Stifel Nicolaus Fundamental knowledge of banking and securities industry operations policies, procedures and best practices.Extensive knowledge of applicable information systems (particularly Stifel Nicolaus systems) and the ability to query these systems to generate oversight and other reportsExcellent written and verbal communication skills, as well as strong people skills Ability to lead projects of significant scope and complexityAbout StifelEstablished in 1890, Stifel is one of the nation's leading full-service wealth management and investment banking firms.
